mine is smoking bad when running also, i tore motor apart and the oil ring on piston appears fine, and the valve steam seal looks fine as well. Not sure what else it could be..

appears fine? By what measure? If your Yamaha smokes constantly/badly, you need rings, or bore/piston/rings. Unless the motor is way overfull with oil/fuel mix and airbox is loaded with nasty juice too. Valve stem seal only makes brief smoke on startup, not much oil is available up there.
