Default fuel pump won't pump fuel

87 ezgo 2 stroke robins motor. I installed new fuel pump and it won't pump fuel. engine has 120 compression. I removed pump and turn engine over and i got air pushing out of the center hole but could not feel vacuum. Any help would be great. this cart is new to me. i also replaced the crank seals.

Here's your manual. You're going to need it to change the crankshaft seals.

Check all fuel lines for leaks and check pickup tube inside tank

Time to look at the lines, and the pickup tube then.

The steel line that runs behind the seat to the filter could be rusted through. Rubber lines could be cracked.

Its a long shot, but I recently bought one of the cheapo fuel pumps off of Ebay. It looked identical to my old one, so I just installed it. Engine wouldn't start at all. For some reason, i looked closer at the pump, and saw that half of the body of it was "clocked" such that the inlet and outlet were switched. Took out the 4 screws, re-clocked the casting half, and voila', the cart took right off. I'm surprised I found it, to be honest.

It should pulse, but I don't know how much of the suction you will feel.

Has this cart ever run for you?

You said that you changed the seals. Did you change the piston too?

Do you think the previous owner changed the piston?

I'm thinking that there are deeper issues here, but we aren't getting all of the information.

My plan of attack would be to prime the lines first. Remove the inlet line from the pump, and pressurize the tank, or pull a vacuum on the open line.

Once there is fuel in the line, and it still doesn't work, then it's time for step 2.

Step 2 would be to remove the exhaust pipe, and move the piston up, and down. If you see a square port in the piston from the exhaust side, it's in backwards.

If that's not it, step 3 is set it on fire, and push it over a cliff.

Slightly pressurize the fuel tank to get fuel going.
