I tried the electric fuel pump route and it didn't appear to making it in the motor so that really confused me, and the reeds open and close with compression I think , heck I really don't know think I'm just going to pull it out and take it to someone.

If I tear it down I will but at this point I'm just super confused at why it's not getting fuel into the motor and using the electric pump i making sure the carb has fuel. It's just doesn't get the fuel into the cylinder for some reason, that's why I was asking if the rings are switched around will that cause issues.

Such a simple motor causing lots of grief..

Are you sure you have the piston in the right way?

Yes there is timing. It should be set at 0°. No advance because it runs 180 out for reverse. There is a pulsar line from the back of engine on crank case should be 1/4 rubber fuel line it runs to pump check it for cracks. Check the pump for a torn diaphragm. Check stupid problems before you spend your hard earned cash. Sometimes stuff just gets overlooked we've all done it. I think at this point I would check the reeds too. These are very simple engines I've rebuilt lots of 2 strokes nothing to them. I hope you get this figured out.

Piston is definitely the correct way without a doubt.
