Default new engine possibilities for 1980 Marathon

Considering upgrading the 244cc Robin to something bigger/quieter. Any suggestions?

I have no recollection of what a 2 cycle Marathon engine sounds like but bigger is not likely to be quieter. Swapping in a clone engine should be fairly easy with your engine carrier. Making one quiet is not difficult but it takes some ingenuity to get it close to as quiet as say a stock 4 cycle cart engine.

If you install a 4 stroke, you will lose reverse.

Yes this could get to be a little bigger project then you may be thinking, If you go 4 stroke your going to need a 4 stroke rear end to have reverse.

Believe me you want reverse! my buddy built a cart with a sled engine without reverse and what a pain in the A__ getting off and pushing it back to make a turn!
But it was fun going forward
