99 ergo workhorse shuttle
Ok guys I have a 1999 ezgo shuttle 6 gas engine. Engine stopped turning over but selenoid does click so I got out multimeter. Batt is good at 12.7 v ,connections are good. 12.7 at solenoid and 12.3 v at starter when pressing gas pedal. All lights come on as well as oil light and fuel gage as they should, just no turn over. So took out some jumpers and jumped a few places and nothing. Also went direct from battery to starter just to try and get it to turn over and again, nothing. But I arched my positive on starter and got a spark, I know ,I know dumb move ! But now nothing works . No gauges ,no lights and no solenoid click. So I checked fuse and it’s still good. Oh and engine is not blown or locked, wth any advice on both problem appreciated.

Pull the rubber caps off the starter/generator and check brushes

Re: 99 ergo workhorse shuttle
I would pull the starter, clean up the brushes,( sand or file ) sand the end of the armature with 400-600 sand paper, just enough to make it shinny again. Also clean out the groves at the end of the armature where the brushes make contact.

Re: 99 ergo workhorse shuttle
Yes that was next, to pull the starter.thanks. What about my secondary problem. After using jumper from battery to starter and shorting it out. No power to gauges lights, or no solenoid click . Is there a fuse I’m missing or ?

Re: 99 ergo workhorse shuttle
Check your grounds - just in case. Original starter issue could have been from a poor ground and if the poor contact has burned (at the main battery (-) ground) it would prevent all power.

Re: 99 ergo workhorse shuttle
On my 96 txt there is a in line fuse that seems to power everything!
Its hidden in the mess of wires near the solenoid. |
