Yamaha G29 Jumps stops grinds

When cart runs it is wide open, both forward and reverse. Other times solenoid clicks with no response. When running cart will slow down and go into a slow grinding mode. Burning smell in cart when this happens. Sometimes it runs sometimes it does not. Motor or controller?

Motor is first check. Pull and inspect. Will likely get "stench of death" when motor is removed.
