Default Has anyone extended their pitman arm?

Hey guys, I'm building a big Yamaha G9 off road limo and was wondering if anyone has a lift maybe 8+ that has pictures of their extended steering.

Not looking for a solid front end style with parallel steering or rack and pinion. Looking for pictures of independent suspension utilizing the steering gear box.

Thanks in advance [emoji106]

Here is a few pictures of my current build because people love pictures [emoji57][emoji106]

What you're building looks real cool. I just went through a bunch of steering issues with hard steering and almost impossible to return to straight. If you lengthen pitman arm it will require more strength to turn the steering wheel in general and could make it very hard to come back straight. You may want to relocate the steering box, that's just an opinion. Looks cool like I said. Good luck.

Thanks Shepard, ya I have considered relocating the steering box. It seems to be a bigger task to do so. also getting the steering column to line up perfectly to work with the existing plastics as well as retaining a strong support for the steering column would be hard.

I could add steering stabilizers to help with center and bump steer.

I did once. I stacked a long travel and some mounting spacers on my workhorse... Turning radius was pitiful So I added 1.5 inches to the pitman arm and wow ! what a difference. The cart is still okay after 10 yrs of use.

Good luck with the project

That's awesome scottyb. Great words of encouragement [emoji106]

Did you cut and weld the extension in or bolt it?

I cut the arm somewhere around mid span and welded in a piece of steel. Ground down and painted you can't even see it. Good Luck
