Installed hydraulic dump on workhorse 1200xl.
So my cart came with a manual dump. Picking it up once was enough to convince me to make it powered.
Ezgo kit was 900-1100. Ouch. Just the electric actuator was 600. Not sure why couple wires and switches cost 300+. Then I was able to find a 2000lb instead of 2200lb actuator for 250. Wish I could remember part numbers. Anyways, that was getting close. Instead I built a hydraulic one out of parts I had. Scrap liftgate from a box truck had 12v hydraulic pump, with tank and valves. Cylinder came from old Jeep snowplow. Hoses from scraped hydraulic lift. Switch laying around. Had to drill couple holes to mount pump, couple holes for upper cylinder. And install flow control, it was way to fast at first. Got it working, found out seal was bad in pump, so I bought another pump from a friend. Has a nice pendant control on it. Pics |

Excellent! And now you have power for any future attachments you might dream up! Does the cylinder retract all the way when down? Reason I ask is that you might want to polish the rust off the rod as much as possible as it WILL take out the wiper and seal in the gland nut with use.

Yeah, I thought about it, it's not using that part of the stroke. Plus it's a single acting cylinder, I don't think it had a wiper

I'll probably end up rebuilding, it's 60+ years old and I'm sure packing will fail at some point.
Can't think of another use yet for extra port, but it is nice having it. |

Nice! May do that someday to mine.
That bed is heavy when loaded. |
