Re: 2007 Star electric golf cart won't go forward
Found a possible wiring diagram here. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/star-...g-diagram.html Make sure to flip it to Tow before messing with wires

Looks like you need to check pin 10 for power when it is in F. 11 would be reverse.

I'll check out the diagram and see if I can make heads or tails of it. The amount of wiring in the actual cart vs. the diagram is always so drastically different.

Re: 2007 Star electric golf cart won't go forward
Okay...so quick background. I am an excellent DIY everything. I know a whole lot about a whole lot. And what I don't know I learn quickly on the internet or get someone to teach me.
Wiring to something like a controller on a golf cart is something I need help with (which is why I am here). This may be something common but let me telling you what just happened... I took a tester light to check pin 10 and compare to 11 (per the diagram). I checked pin 10 it gave me a green light and 11 was red. Cool. Put the tester light back in, and left it stuck in pin 10 to see how the light would change when I flipped the switch and mashed the accelerator. The cart moved forward when I mashed the accelerator. But would not go in reverse now. What the heck. I repeated this multiple times with the same results. It never moved forward unless the tester light was in pin 10???? |

Re: 2007 Star electric golf cart won't go forward
Sorry just working for a living. I am not sure what test light you are using but it sounds like it is back feeding power to pin 10 and then the cart will move. You really need a true meter so you can see what voltages are there. Where are you connecting the other wire from your light ?

Re: 2007 Star electric golf cart won't go forward
I was just using a test light (only thing I have ever called it). Sharp point, light on the inside. I have always used it in tight places to test small wires for voltage. I clipped it to the cart and grounded it.
I never broke out the multimeter after that, because what occurred was bizarre to me. |

Re: 2007 Star electric golf cart won't go forward
Test lights have a tendency to blow things up. Maybe good for checking fuses in a fuse box but that's about all I would ever recommend using one for. Otherwise they tend to provide a path for current/ground that may not otherwise exist. Not only can this damage electronics, but it can also provide false and misleading readings.
A good digital multimeter is the only choice when trying to diagnose anything electrical. You should try and check everything with a meter and see what kind of actual readings you're seeing. :) |

Re: 2007 Star electric golf cart won't go forward
So what should I check? I have checked the voltage of the reverse/pin11. But pin 10 does nothing. But the solenoid does not engage in forward, so I wouldn't think power is getting there.
