CPP or Plowmans Clutch Sheeve Machining
I’d like to have my sheaves machined for a little more torque when starting. Does Don offer a service or only new sheaves he’s machined? Does CPP rebalance after machining? Cart is a g16.
Also should I run the plowmans spring or the umax set up? |

Re: CPP or Plowmans Clutch Sheeve Machining
I've heard mixed results from CPP. Some people love them and have nothing but wonderful things to say, others have ultimately switched from CPP to Plowmans kits because it did not offer the performance they were looking for/expecting.
I'd search on here and read through some of the posts and see if it meets what you're looking for. CPP machining is quite a bit cheaper, and may meet what you're looking for if your current clutch is in good shape. IF it's worn, then i'd personally get a new clutch from plowmans instead of reworking your old one. I've never heard a single bad thing from anybody about plowmans, so if it were me, i'd just go straight to him. tell him what you're looking for and he can configure exactly what you need to exceed your expectations :) |

Re: CPP or Plowmans Clutch Sheeve Machining
If you are looking for a little more torque, machining is not required. A spring change will get that, or maybe just a new belt. Contact Don Plowman.
The driven clutch machining is not for restoring a worn out clutch. The machining removes material to allow the 2 sheaves to come closer together thus increasing the overall diameter of the clutch which will make the belt ride higher giving you more torque. Side note>> CPP does great work, they specialize more in Vanguard big block conversions and upgrades. Plowman does great work as well, but specializes more on stock engines carts. |

Re: CPP or Plowmans Clutch Sheeve Machining
Thanks for the reply’s so far. I used Dons kit on my G2 but the sheaves were shot. They seem to be in good shape on the g16 I just picked up so I wasn’t sure if I could just have them cut.
