Default Charging problems

My 14 year old son just bought a g29 with Trojan batteries that are dated 3 years old. Came with the jw2 charger. It seems as though the charger is only charging to a certain point and then stopping. It never shows the 90% or charged light. On the charger all of the lights will flash and it makes a click sound.
He can drive it for 30-45 minutes and it starts lagging, put it on charge and charge light comes on for a few hours and then all lights flash with a click again.
I checked the volts when the clicking started and had 8.4-8.5 at every battery and 51.3 total.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My son saved for a while to get this and is heart broken he can only ride for a few minutes at a time.

Check all batteries when the cart starts to lag. You may have problem child.

I suspect that you have a weak battery or two, when its lagging you need to take reading from each battery one at a time while it is IN USE preferably under a load such as going up hill to find your weak batteries.

I assumed 2 need to be replaced. Think we could get by on replacing 2 or have to replace 2,3, and 4?

I know it’s recommended that they be replaced as a set. Using old with new will make the new fail before they would if it was a new full pack. $$$ makes that decision though. Buy six now and be done for five or so years or buy two to three now and six more in three years?
