You really can't go by the date on the motor for a couple reasons. First, if you havent owned the cart since new you have no way of knowing if that motor was ever replaced. I bought a motor from a member here out of a 2008 cart, and the date of manufacture on the motor was 10/2013.
Second, with small engines, it's not at all uncommon for them to sit on the shelf before being purchased or used (even by cart manufacturers). So in my case the motor was built in 10/2013 but it may have not even been installed into the cart until 2015 or 2016... the world may never know. Go to your local home depot, lowes, northern tool, etc.. look at the Lifan, kawasaki, or other motors on their shelf. Manufacture date should be on the box. Unless your local store sells a LOT of engines, I wouldnt be surprised if they were manufactured a couple years ago. Between sitting on Kawasaki's shelf, to a distributors shelf, to (home depot or whatever) warehouse shelf, to the actual store's shelf, to your garage. Takes some time. You'll want to find the tag on the frame to know for sure what year it is. |

Did you take a bulb out and check it? I don’t think the cut in lights use that bulb. The factory light bar can use 881s

Yeah I took the headlight out and the bulb in it is a 889. Very dim and seems to be incandescent.

I have used jdm astar 50 watts with good luck. Little more expensive but have lasted.
