Exclamation Purpose of Air Chamber over Carb ‘83 G1

Hey guys I am just curious about what the purpose is for the Air Chamber part
J24-13581-00-00 that connects to the top of carburetor mounting joint and also has another line coming from the crank case ( Vac control valve) connected to it. Usually this Air Chamber has the word YAMAHA on it. My 1983 G1 doesn’t have this part and am wondering what exactly it does. Mine is running fine but I have the hole on top of carburetor mount joint just plugged. Is this part necessary? Looks like I may be able to order it but just wanted to know if anyone knows what exactly it does. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks
I put red arrow on the picture pointing at the air chamber. Hopefully it’s clear to see

Once I started upgrading mine, I removed it. Didn't seem to make a negative impact. Just had to make sure it was blocked off properly with no leaks.

Ok thanks for the info. So should be ok without it as long as I keep the hole plugged on the carburetor mount joint. Thanks again

Do you have the smaller line that comes off the engine case to the chamber? You will need that too and it is discontinued. I think I may have found one for my build and am curious to see if there is a check valve in the line or is it just open.

Yes there’s a check valve in the line and that is the part I have not been able to find as it’s discontinued. I did find part J38-14388-00 that is for the G2 and am curious if it’ll work on the G1

That part for the G1 is J24-14388-00 and is also called Vac control valve. Part numbers are almost the same except for the first 3. I may order the one available part J38-14388 to see if it works
