Default Rebuilt Carb and now a new question on 1985 Club Car DS

I rebuilt my Carb with new parts from LVS and it is running much better. Before, I had to keep the cart floored to keep moving and now it runs great with barely pressing down on the gas pedal.

But now I have an issue.

There is a link that goes from the carb where the throttle is attached that goes back to the rear under the body.

It came loose when I was replacing the carb. It looks like it just fits in a small hole but there is nothing to keep it in place so it vibrates out and then engine or rear end makes all kinds of rattling noise at hight speed. How can I reattach this?

Thanks,

Jim

There probably used to be a round "reversed star washer looking" clip that held the linkage in place when it is inserted into the hole. The end of the linkage rod should have a groove in it. Another option I have used when I didn't have the correct clip is to use pliers to squeeze a small split/lock washer into the groove.

Thank you,

I bought some of the round star crimped whatever they are called and tried that but the length of rod that goes into the hole is too short to use them.

It may have had a f shaped metal clip that has a hole in one end
that slips over the rod after inserted in lever and the spins and clips
on the rod.

Is the plastic bushing keeping the rods groove from being exposed? Maybe trim it a bit?

It didn't have the plastic keeper that DOOmsman shows in his picture. I wish it did. And there is no plastic bushing like on the the other links. I'm beginning to think the part just wore out and the extra rod fell off. The cart is back to having to floor it to keep moving. My guess is this rod needs to be replaced and the gov. needs a slight adjustment to not have to floor it all the time.

Is this the governor rod we are talking about?

That's my guess, but I'm not sure. It does go back to the rear of the cart and attaches to a lever on the transmisson. At that end is a sdet screw and part of the rod extends past the screw.

Yup, governor linkage. That lever is the governor. I'll go look at my old linkages and see how it is put together and let you know.

Looks like the end of your linkage rod is most likely broken off. I have one if you need it. Mine is twice as long sticking down as yours is and has 2 grooves in it. Yours must have broken off at the first groove which is even with the bottom of the plastic bushing.
