Replacing the FZ340 with FE400
Hi guys I want to know if I can directly swap in a Kawasaki FE400 in my 1990 Club car? My old FZ340 engine died and our local parts dealer told me that I can dump the car. I see that the FE400 is also counter-clockwise rotation, but will it swap directly?

No I don't believe it is a direct swap from what I've heard. There are differences. Someone else may be able to comment further.

if you have EVERYTHING from a donor cart, probably could be done. there is no parts interchange. also your forward will b reverse unless u swap out to a newer axle
the best choice in my opinion would be a briggs or clone transplant |

As long as it's a counter clockwise motor the forward and reverse should be the same. As for the rest I'm sure it can be done but it may not be a direct bolt in.

The FE400 is not counter clockwise..... Atleast not in Club Car applications. It may be available elsewhere in a CCW setup.

rotation aside it is a direct swap except the exhaust. I have put one in my 2007 Precedent and it was completely painless.

I think the alternator bracket is a little different too. Wish I could find one to put in my pioneer 1200.

Re: Replacing the FZ340 with FE400
The original poster has a 1990 cart, which has a completely different motor platform (FZ340/KF82 flathead). KF82s were used in gas Club Cars through 1991. 1992+ gas DS carts and Precedents already have some kind of "FE" motor as their standard motor from the factory, so putting an FE400 in one is understandably easy.

Re: Replacing the FZ340 with FE400
If you consider parting out your old kf82 engine I am in need of an excitor coil. It sits behind the flywheel. Let me know I would definitely be interested in this hard to find part.

Re: Replacing the FZ340 with FE400
I have a KF82 that came out of my 1991 CC DS. It smoked a little a start-up. I replaced it with a clone motor. Doesn't include the clutch.
