We went down and bought the 97 club car that wouldn't start
IWe went down to look at the club car this Morning- I took my wife ( because her sister and brother will drive it also) and My Good Guy Old time gear head Neighbor. We got there and the first thing he did was check for spark- good spark, the checked to see if it was getting gas. he pulled the hose off from the air filter to the carb and hand choked it and on the 2nd hit of the key it was trying to start- third hit of the key it started. some what cold natured.
We noticed there was no butterfly type choke or any choke. There is a pump type system right by your left knee?ACCELARATOR.JPG FUEL PUMP.JPG any suggestion about getting a proper choke? I also included a picture of this very weird fuel pump system, the wrench turner ( I wont call Him a mechanic)that did the engine swap installed this fuel pump. Are the pumps supposed to be electrical or vacuum? any suggestions where to start? proper fuels pump Choke connecting the accelerate switch that allows you to step on pedal and it starts? I have bee looking, and haven't yet found where the manufacturer's id plate is for Model, serial number and the like- I have to say My wife and Neighbor BOTH were very surprised on the great condition the cart is in, and when we were bringing it home my wife notice how the van towed the trailer so much better that my n48 volt bad boy buggy- this cart is a LOT lighter thanks so much had carts for a couple years, but not a gas Club car |

Re: We went down and bought the 97 club car that wouldn't start
The fuel pump is operated by vacuum from the engine. The choke (by your left knee) is simply depressed and held in until the engine starts. The choke just cuts off air from the carb to richen the mixture. There is an O ring inside the mechanism, make sure both it and the air filter box and intake hose are all snug with no cracks or splits, these carts are very finicky when it comes to A/F mixtures being out of whack.
