Default G1 muffled backfire...

I have an 86 G1 with only a few hours on a brand new top end which includes a new cylinder, piston, wristpin, rings and gaskets. The cart starts fine and runs fine even on inclines. My problem is when I am running the cart and let my foot off the gas pedal to coast to a stop, I will get a muffled backfire sound. It isn't really a "POP!!!" noise but more of a "Psssst" noise almost like a misfire. It will also sometimes do it when going down a hill. It never has done it while the motor is in a pull...only when the cart is traveling faster than the motor is turning. Other than that, the cart runs super fine. Anybody have any ideas what might be causing this or how to fix it?

raw gas is being pulled into the cylinder then exiting out the exhaust ports, when it comes into contact with the hot exhaust pipe it ignites.

i think, sounds good to me

if your carburetor butter fly is not fully closing when you let of the gas peddle it will cause it to pop. check to make sure it is closed all the way when off throttle. if not adjust cable.

Would the carb butter fly also cause it to do that when I go from full throttle to half throttle. It isn't only when I take my foot completely off the gas pedal...but also does it at half throttle "IF" the cart isn't in a pull..

sounds like you have a air vacuume leak, crank seals, carb boot, or head/base gasket
