How loud is a big block

Hey guys one of my friends was thinking about abig block for his cart but he was worried that it would be too loud. Would a briggs 18 hp be as loud as a yamaha g 16? He needs it quiet for his hood.

The standard kit from CPP is not bad.

It really depends on your exhaust system more than the engine itself.

The 18 HP kit with stock exhaust is about the same as a standard cart. The 23 HP has a two barrel carb so intake is louder plus the 23 has header which is louder. We have lots of 18 kits with stock exhaust in campgrounds. Some think they are even quiter than stock as you don't run them as hard as the single cylinders.

my 20hp has the two barrel carb , billet intake k&N and a CPP header with no muffler.

Sounds just like a Harley!My wife always knows where I am on the farm.

I eventually want to put a muffler on the cart to quiet it down.

I have a riding lawn mower with a vanguard in it, sounds just like my cart. or was it my cart sounds just like my mower

, I know it's one of the two. Both have stock mufflers, the cart is usually quieter because it runs lower rpm's most of the time.

Anybody have a 18 Vanguard with stock muffler video handy. A comparison between that and a stock cart would be awesome.

I don't have a stock setup on my 18 hp, stock is not loud enough for me!! Check this thread...video at the top of page 3.

Ahhhhhhhhh! That sounds nice! I have to try to keep mine quiet. I tried a CPP header and muffler from CPP on my stock 290cc Club Car and the wife didn't care too much for it. The more interested I can keep her in the cart the more funding available!
