Default 93 Marathon - 295 Robin 4 cycle- Turns over but won't start.. Please help!

Hey everyone. This last weekend while camping I was driving my cart and it just stopped running on me.. Didn't spit or sputter, just stopped running and towed it back to the campsite.. It just turns over but doesn't start.

Took the spark plugs out and tested spark which is good, Also seems to be getting fuel because if you hold the choke out the plugs end up getting wet. Took carb apart and cleaned it all out anyways still same issue.

I held my finger in the spark plug hole to test compression and it seems it would be good enough for it to run. I can check with a compression tester tonight when I get home from work.

Just thought I would ask on here for other ideas. In my experience with motors, if it has fuel, spark, air it should run... Not sure if that's the same for golf carts though.

Thank you!

The compression test is a good idea- if compression is at least 90 psi, remove the air filter and spray a little starting fluid into the carb and then see if it sputters/runs for a little while, if so, you have a fuel issue. If not, it is likely a spark issue- I'm not familiar with your engine, but I know if a small engine shears a flywheel key then it can have good spark, but the spark timing is not correct and it won't run (the spark fires at the wrong time).

Thank you for the ideas Kyerik, I will look into those things after the compression test this evening and post my results.

Jumped timing belt is another possibility, especially on a 24-year-old cart ... Check compression first, if it's good then I'd pull the timing cover and make sure all is well.

Thank you BrewCityMusic, I will check the timing belt also.. I didn't even think that it could be timing. But that would make sense.

Well, looks like I am gonna have to tear the motor down. For compression only getting 50 in one cylinder and 10 in the other. Something had to have let go. Thanks for your help guys

Have you checked valve lash and made sure cam belt didn't jump a cog that will mess with compression

check for a stuck valve before you pull the motor apart.
