trans operation.
I have a 1994 4-cycle cart . I am looking for information on how the transmission operates . I have no forward or reverse operation ,removed trans but could not see anything wrong with any of the gears. Checked gear shift operation and found it is engaging,my main problem is I don,t have any information on how the system operates any help would be appreated.thank you.

i would make sure that one of the hubs are not striped out.

Never tried it with the rear out of the cart. Take the dust caps off, If you can turn the nut and have the wheel/hub stay in place it's stripped. It's about a 95% chance this is the problem, it's a weak point built into the system to keep from tearing up the rear. I would say at this point it's probably as easy to remove the hubs for inspection starting with the pass side.

when this happens is it the axle splines or the hub splines that usually go first?

The axle is usually not harmed when this happens, it's harden therefore alot stronger than the hub. clean out the metal in the spines and it's good to go. When putting the new hub on do not back off the nut to install the cotter key, keep tightening till you can get it to slide in.
