Default Added lift and bigger tires, no added speed

Hey everyone. So before I added the lift kit and bigger wheels and tires, my 07 CC Precedent was running 21 MPH. I figured when I added the lift kit and bigger tires I would gain a couple MPH. I have new Trojan batteries in the cart, MadJax 6" A Arm Lift, and 22 inch tires. Any suggestions on why I didn't get an increase in speed? I am still learning about these addictive little vehicles.

Thanks

My neighbor did the same thing with an old EZ GO he bought from me. There was no added speed on that either. Sometimes the very small increase that would come with larger tire diameter isn’t apparent because of the extra effort on the motor to drive bigger wheels.

Thanks Luke. I kind of figured that might be it or I tightened the front hubs too much. I'll check the hubs tomorrow when I change the lugnuts.

The added weight and rotating mass makes the motor and controller work harder in order for the vehicle to operate. You've "mathematically" gained more top speed because the speed sensor will now limit vehicle max speed to a higher ground speed because of the increased tire size, but the added weight counter acts it.

You want a little play in the hubs so they can spin easily but not a lot... you might get more top end speed with bigger tires but take off is going to be slower.... the motor is having a harder time turning those big wheels at take off.... you can put a bigger controller on your cart for a big difference in take off and speed

Any suggestions on a controller? I just want a little more speed, somewhere around 25-27.

Thanks Guys

The Alltrax XCT400 with the factory motor should get you close to that. You'll need 4 gauge cables and a 200 amp heavy duty solenoid as well. The 500 amp XCT is another option, but it must be mated to a 2 gauge cable set and a 400 amp heavy duty solenoid. The factory motor is no longer an option at this point because the controller is much too powerful. With this setup I recommend either the Admiral A2 or the Admiral A4 motor.

lift the rear only and you'll gain speed by going downhill all the time

sorry... ogre's in that kind of mood today
