Default Solenoid dead

I have an older 1110 hauler Jacobson (gas)that I believe is the same as E Z Go as for the electric components. Just purchased it and having issues. Runs great but the solenoid got warm and went bad. I installed a new solenoid and voltage regulator, and the solenoid still gets warm. I did test the starter generator and it does put out 14. Something once it starts, so it’s making electricity.
I don’t dare try it very long because I think it will destroy another solenoid.

Thanks in advance and I hope I posted the first time in the correct forum.

Are you using a continuous duty golf cart solenoid? Car solenoids will not work for long.

Have you checked how the solenoid is wired up? Are your battery cables the correct gauge? Are your cable ends clean? Just trying to think of things that could reduce the resistance....
