Default Yamaha G8

My forward reverse switch broke on my G8. I saw that its like 300 bucks will the g14/16 switch also work in its place. It looks like it would fit. Its also only like 120 bucks.

The switches look exactly the same online. Was hoping to purchase cheaper newer design.

It's a far worse switch. Fails often. Would be better converting to a Ezgo f&r or ScottyB's reversing contactors setup. Both aren't much more money than that questionable G14 switch. I call it questionable because the real one from Yamaha retails for more, and is a known problem. Either way, it won't be a "bolt in" part, and if you are gonna be "hacking in" the wrong switch, might as well "hack in" a better switch.

G8 switch part number - JF3-82917-01
G14 switch part number - JN4-82917-00

They are more different than you are seeing.

Thanks so much for the advice. I agree with hacking in a better switch. I will have to find this Scotty B setup that your talking about.
