6 Seat upgrade advice...Need help.
The kids have been asking for a golf cart that we can use to ride around the neighborhood so we had been thinking about getting one for a while. I ran across one the other day that was in great shape and looked to be exactly what we wanted.
Impulse Buy. After getting it home I realized very quickly I should have done more research before the purchase and gone with gas because of our terrain. The cart is so large and heavy it struggles with the small hills in our neighborhood. Upgrade time! We have lots of electric hobby grade RC cars so I have a grasp of the basics. Having been in that hobby I also knew there had to be a forum full of people that could help me not spend money in the wrong places on the wrong things! I don't need it to go any faster(bonus) but I need more power. This is the kit I am looking at: www .diygolfcart. com/ezgo-pds-motor-controller-combo-high-torque/ Is that everything I will need for the upgrade? This kit will run on 36v but can also run on 48v correct? Should I go to 48V? Cart Currently has 6 new 6v batteries so I could easily buy 2 more and upgrade to 48v right? (already measured and I have space to add 2 more batteries.) My thinking was to buy this kit, see if it solved my problems and if not get 2 more batteries and move up to 48v... Sound good or would you go in a completely different direction? Golf Cart info- 2004 EZGO TXT LIMO PDS |

More information on what you bought would be a good start.

Absolutely no solid advice can be given without more info on what you have.

Re: 6 Seat upgrade advice...Need help.
Motor controller, HD cables & solenoid would help alot (stock controller is pretty weak, compounded by big heavy stretch cart). Converting to 48v would be awesome too (33% more voltage = 33% more power & speed). I've never used that particular motor, so cant really comment on it for sure.
Can you get some info on the controller that's currently in there? Like, does it live on a angled finned plate with a dome shaped plastic cover with tow/run switch on it. |

Re: 6 Seat upgrade advice...Need help.
After talking with a friend I ended up going with this setup;
Admiral MOT-B4 motor, Alltrax XCT48500, MZJ-400 Solenoid, 2 gauge Wire Set and the FN-Key so I can turn down the power for the kids. Looking forward to the build! |
