short in 48 volt club car '95...
Trying to find short in 48 volt 95 club car...when charging, charger operates intermitantly.....Ampmeter goes to 25 amps then runs for 11 seconds then shuts down....after another 11 seconds starts charging again....batteries not getting full charge....Also..charger breaks circuit and have to push the reset button again...with same results....
Any help identifying where the short is appreciated....All cables clean and intact.....OBC is suspect....By passed with no help.... |

You bypassed the OBC and then charged and got the same results?

Yes that is correct....The ampmeter went over the scale and eventually broke the circuit

Re: short in 48 volt club car '95...
All check in green area...Was looking for a Short in one of the cells, however
All cells check OK....Will check for individual voltage on the batteries tomorrow, however , I believe all over the 8 volt range... I used a hydrometer in each cell.. |

Re: short in 48 volt club car '95...
All Cells were in the low state of charge....
Is there a way to direct charge the bank of batteries using an adapter of some kind??? I realize this would only bring up the batteries to a reasonable charge state... Could there be shorts in the small fuse that may be inline to the OBC??? I'm only guessing... |

Re: short in 48 volt club car '95...
Yes....A new set of 8 volt batteries installed a couple of months ago..
One thing I have not tried, but will do in AM.. is to plug charger into another 48 volt club car and see if this charger is ok.....However, I believe the short is in the cart... |

Pretty Low....However I connected another charger to this cart with the same results....Ammeter shows charging then shuts down and restarts intermittantly.....Any ideas for a easy bypass of the computer???
