G2 belt slipping in driven clutch
I have a problem with my yamaha g2 driven clutch. Starting up from a stand still, the belt slips in the driven clutch and struggles to get moving. Sometimes when going up a hill from a stop, the cart refuses to move at all and the belt begins to smoke as it slips in the driven clutch. The belt tension is adjusted correctly and the belt is in good shape as are the clutches. There is just no climbing power with it slipping. The cart runs 30 mph and is great at any speed but a standing start. I was wondering what the problem could be and if the CPP power spring would help?

Yeah and it looks normal. I can get a video of it slipping too if that helps.

Sounds like a worn belt to me.

Check the snap ring between the coupling and the gear box if the snap ring has slipped out of its groove the the spring rate has decreased had the same problem

Re: G2 belt slipping in driven clutch
Hmm interesting could you explain more? Do I have to pull the clutch off again to see this snap ring? I think I know what you are talking about but I just looked and cant find the snap ring. If it did slip out how do I fix it? Thanks

Re: G2 belt slipping in driven clutch
Take a pry bar and pry the torque spring together and on the shaft between the torque spring collar and the gearbox is where you will find the snap ring, if you don't see the snap ring the there is your trouble. Get with Viper and he will have a solution for you using the same method he used to fix his G9.

Re: G2 belt slipping in driven clutch
Well just an update, I was looking into the belt slipping and decided to try out a few different drive belts. Its doing much better with a shorter belt, although there is still some slipping and squealing on uphill starts. My setup is about as far from stock as you get using a g2 yamaha rear end in an 04 EZGO. I believe the clutches are out of alignment and the slacked belt tension were my problem. I'll rework my motor mounts and see if that makes the difference.
