GK seems sketchy. They have a 25 cent diode listed for $28.

I installed HD springs on my 86 marathon. Original has 3 leaf and HD 5. I removed one to avoid harsh ride which worked well. The spring alone lifted the cart a full 2”. Already had a 4”’lift so fabricated 6” shock extensions.

Some people say you don’t need shocks. So the manufacturer designed the cart with them, spent more money on installing something unneeded?

The bolts in the shackles didn't have heads on the inside and were spinning. I cut them off, and replaced with 3/8-16 grade 8.

I used the Modz heavy duty rear springs

The Gold Cart King rear shocks are not long enough for the HD springs. (they don't tell you this)

I ended up ratchet strapping the axle up to get them in. Also they don't come with a bushing kit. The bushing kit I purchased with the shocks did not have the proper nut for the top post of the shock. (GK left out that tie bit too)

GK tech said to not install shock on a cart with HD rear springs. (They don't tell you that either)

All in all I will most likely avoid GK due to these issues.

Funny you mention the "need" for shocks. I will say I think it depends upon what you use your cart for. If "speed is the need" then mebby shocks for stability.

Here's what I just posted on another thread about shocks on my cart...

Just for a "FWIW" back when I switch from FLA's to Lithium, I had a 4-spring Leaf setup on my TXT. Once I lost the 350-lbs from going to Lithium riding my cart was like riding a Harley hard tail!!

I removed two leaf's from each one (the smallest and next to smallest) thus leaving a 2-spring leaf on each side.

Way better ride.

I just broke the passenger side shock. So, I removed it and the last "outting" (I hunt with it and driving slow is the name of the game) I went on I didn't notice a significant difference. When time allows I'll remove the drivers side shock and test drive it to see if I even want to put new shocks on.

I finally received and installed a Plum Quick Barracuda. I have some fine tuning to do still, but it is a great improvement.

I completely forgot to look for this.

However, I did find my old email .....but the link no longer is valid. I'm guessing they are no longer in business.
