Default clone in a club car

i have a 98 cc that has a lift and big tires the top speed is good but has no low end. i am sure the cart has been run pretty hard over the years and the motor is getting tired. i am wanting to put a 16 hp duromax in it is worth the time i dont need more top end just more low end power.

Yes it is and it's a cheap substitute if you have the tools and know how to fabricate. Read on Grasshopper and good luck

you may want to look into clutch machining and the torque power spring for the driven clutch. dont know how much torque your after but you could get a decent amount back going that route for well under 200 bux.

The torque spring just gives a better launch from idle doesn't it ? It just causes the driven clutch to engage later in the RPM range ? If that's the case as I see it, worthless on the golf course but it has value on the trails and hills.

If you do the clutch spring and clutch machining and still aren't happy it isn't money wasted as those parts can go on the clone motor as well.

No the torque spring goes in the driven clutch and changes shift point not engagement rpm.

Maybe I was clumsy in my description BigBlockMan but from all I'd read I thought that the torque spring delayed the launch engagement until the rpm's were a little higher than standard. Does this spring provide greater torque through the range without changing the initial engagement and still allow the engine to pull through the entire clutch range on a standard motor or is it specifically designed for just the additional torque that the big block / clone motors produce ?
Thanks in advance for your clarification
