charger question

i converted an ezgo to 48 volts, will a club car charger charge the pack if I change the plug on it?

I think I remember one of the experts saying some Club Car chargers communicate with the cart's controller somehow. I would expect an older charger to work just fine, as long as the polarity is correct.
