Default Gas tank

I am new to this site and do not have much knowledge about golf carts. I appreciate any input you guys may have. I have a Yamaha G2 golf cart that I am attempting to do an engine swap. I went with the Duramax 16 hp. Everything that I read said this was an easy swap. My problem is the gas tank does not fit. The Engine went in smooth with no problems. But the gas tank sits too high and does not fit under the seat. Is there a solution for this? Maybe another mounting location? Using the old tank would be ideal but from what I read I can't find a Definitive answer on it working or not. Again I am good with fixing things if I'm pointed in the right direction although I don't know the right name for parts of the engine or cart so a diagram would be great.

Thanks for any input. This seems like a great site very informative!

Muddybuggy welcome to BGW. I am not an expert on the golf carts by any means, but I would think that the tank from the duramax engine could be removed and then use the stock G2 tank. The answers will follow here soon enough from some that have done the swap. I am also is the process of doing a complete restoration of my 86 G2, although going with the stock yamaha motor.. I do see a BIG BLOCK not to far in the future..good luck with your cart.

The Predator has a gravity feed carb--not sure how it would work with a fuel pump and the G2 tank.
