Default 1984 Yamaha G1 slow start//gov question

So I'm very happy with my cart! One problem now though. Sometimes when I start my cart it takes a while to fire up and get going. I'll hold the gas all the way and it will pop pop pop and then go. Is there a possibility I have too much oil in the gas (50:1)? I have it rich bc I don't want to blow the engine.

Side question-
I want to go faster but I don't want to wreck the engine. Is removing the governor wise? How likely is it I could cause bad damage? Is it just downhill I can't open her wide open? On straights could I open it if there was no gov?

50:1 is thick I run mine at 100:1 but I don't think it would affect starting that bad does it help if you pull the choke? As for governor delete I did mine and Im hard on it wide open all the time up and down hills 2 strokes can take a lot more rpms than a four stroke that being said I completely rebuilt my motor with fresh parts knowing I was gonna to be hard on it! This link works on g1 http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...r-g16-g22.html look at post 12 and 13

Haha I never use the choke bc it always ends up starting. I've used choke twice when it was really cold, but thanks that may be what was wrong.

I looked at the post. It's the same process for g1? That's like a 10mph increase sounds like fun.

Do these carts have check valves or something similar in them to make sure gas doesn't flow away from carb when sitting? It almost sounds like you are losing prime and it's taking some engine cranking to get good gas flow again. That's common on some of the older carts I have. I am new to the G1s though and not sure if they are the same.

Should I change the oil out for synthetic like the post said.

Also are they talking about gas/oil mix or gear oil.

Should I change the gear oil? The cart has sat for a looooong time. I just don't know if I should change it.

Just drilled the hole for gov but it's the same as before. Maybe mine is old and caught like there is still a "d" there. Any suggestions
