G16 making a strange noise.
Hey everyone,
I just picked up a 2002 G16. While driving it I notice a wining sound coming from the rear (rear clutch or transaxle) area. As I accelerate the sound gets louder. When the governor kicks in the sound disappears but when the governor disengages the sound instantly returns. Today I decided to change change the rear gear oil just to be safe. While in the process i decided to remove the belt and spin the tires to make a short video what I think the sound is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USbWigExSFg Do anyone have any thoughts that might help? Sounds like governor fly weights to me. But to do a proper inspection, a full axle teardown will likely be in order. Unless you can get some good pics of the input shaft from the back. Governor problems can start dropping parts in the axle, which will be big trouble.
