Default G5 85 won't go into forward in cold

I have a 1985 yahama g2 all stock when it's cold out it won go into forward but goes into reverse just fine what should I check first

See if you can manually switch it on the rear differential very well could be worn or cable and out of adjustment

I agree with Spicy....one or both cables are the problem. They both have to be working properly to achieve forward/reverse.

Probably needs about a half a can of WD 40 on both cables especially back at the diff. At least that is what I would run into during the winter. I'd check adjustment too (both cables) after a good clean up and WD 40.
