Default ‘82 Throttle arm adjustment

Could someone please advise on the adjustment procedure for this arm?

My manual says it should 3.5” from opening to opening - but that was almost the full extension of the arm - and it threw off all of the other throttle adjustments.

Any advice is appreciated.

Make shure the throttle cable (at the bracket on the transaxle) pulls the governor arm all the way back (there is no adjustment at the pedal end). Next, with the governor arm at rest (pedal not pushed) and the throttle shaft in the closed position, adjust the joints so when you push the pedal to "wide open throttle" the throttle shaft opens all the way also.

Got it. Throttle down opened the governor arm. Pushed the throttle body wide open, shortened the arm to fit. Adjusted cable so that pedal down brought the throttle body just in context with the carb body.

That brought the “idle arm” basically right on top of the carb body. Does that seem right?

Ps - the 3.15” has a * saying that it was for reference example only. :eyeroll:
