Default Re: Yamaha G1 Only Runs with full choke and full Throttle

I purchased 2 more G1's last weekend both are 1984 models and I got both of them for $450. I am so stocked. I am already rebuilding one of the motors just to freshen it up some. It ran fine, but I saw a good amout of oil and dirt around the clutch side seal so why not fixit now. The other one is in great shape but the motor is locked up. I consider it a challenge. I was going to just replace the motor but I can't find a used one and a neww one is just way to much for my budget.

Anyway here are a couple of picturs of my new projects.

Thank you So Much 85 G3 and Texas for your wonderfull Input...

I also agree that the Compression is ok for the Models 1982 being a little different that the rest ,,, and in LINE at 90 + ..

Ill Order the Seals and that should do a Lot ,,, for Power, Performance,,
and not abig expense..... Seems the Clutch Bolt Tool is the largest Expense..

I found one for sale on Line for 19.00 ,,,

Cleaned the Carbs,,,and will clean the Fuel Pump Diaphrams,,,
and all the lines,,,, if they dont idle and run ,,,then the Top end Rings will Most Likly will have to be Done ,,

I see a LOT of Seals on Ebay for both sides for about 25 Dollars
or should a person go with yamaha dealership ones ...

I have purchased 2 sets from ebay and have been very satisfied. I have heard many die hards say that only Yamaha parts will do, but they are much more expensive like $30 bucks each. I have a small budget so I have to watch the costs so I can do more to my carts. I will be willing to bet that you will see a marked improvement in the way your cart will run with new seals. I now only use the chock for a few seconds the first start of the day after that it just start right up as soon as I hit the gas and it has nice power as well.

I look forward to hearing how your job goes.
Hope I was able to help in some small way,
Tom
