Sounds like an oiling problem or overheating problem. Don't run it until you find the cause or it will get expensive.

well i finished tearing the robin down and found one badly scorched crank bearing cap, and can also see the piston skirt is broken on each side of that cylinder too, so for whatever reason it was not getting oil obviously. now the question, do you spend the money to rebuild this pig or buy a clone engine and start over????? any of you guys who have swapped a clone engine, i would appreciate your input as to what kind of time and money was involved to do the complete swap and also, was there a noticeable performance gain? thanks

pull the plug wires and jack up the rear and then remove the valve cover, hit the pedal and it should shoot oil like crazy! have u cleaned the oil filter?

Already pulled the engine, but thanks for the tip. That is what the engine tech I spoke with had suggested we try next if the rods weren't damaged. Since the rod bearing is shot and the piston skirt is broke no need to look any further
