early marathon rear axle, crazy question
is there any reason that the rear axle on a marathon couldn't be ran in reverse for extended amounts of time? I've got an early model marathon (internal starter) that I've put way to much money on. I finally got it running good (new carb and all) just to toast the starter/generator. I've got a 420 predator ready to set in it's place, when I realized the rear end is set up for reverse rotation. I've come to realize that if I flip the rear axle and reweld the spring mounts that it will then drive the cart forwards. I'm just not sure if there is a reason the axle shouldn't be ran in reverse. I do realize that I won't have reverse but that's not a big deal for what this cart will be used for.

Re: early marathon rear axle, crazy question
You shouldn't have to change anything. If you have a stock 2 cycle rear end and a CCW rotation clone engine mounted with the drive clutch on the driver's side it should work just fine.
