beating the old dead 6098 horse
I need all of you in to form two lines, the line on my right will be for those who wish to stomp a mudhole in my ***, the line on the left for individuals who would like to walk it dry cause im asking about this belt swap again
I read all the junk about changing the belt to a shorter one, then I read all the junk about people that used the napa 6098 and got the business. Ive also read about a lot of folks loving the 6098 belt. I bought a 6098 at good ol napa while I was out and about today and got a notion to put it on shortly after I got home...I cant get the **** thing on! Ive tried pry bars ive tried spinning it on with the engine and all that nonsense, can I take the driven clutch apart to put it on or is that counter productive? I need a belt on so I can test voltage regulator without the drive clutch smacking around. Anybody had a similar issue??? |

Is the rear clutch separated? If it's closed, put the belt in it and snatch the hell out of it. It will drive the sheaves apart and allowyou to get the belt on.

i think so, the belt barely fits between the two pieces of the driven clutch.

Re: beating the old dead 6098 horse
Put the belt between the sheaves and yank it. That should drive them apart. You'll need the belt to be sitting as close to the center of the driven so that it will roll onto the drive clutch.

I thought I was supposed to roll it on to the driven clutch on the rear axle? I can put it on the drive clutch on the engine very easily

Re: beating the old dead 6098 horse
What you are saying is the way I have always put the belt on.Slip it on the engine clutch and rotate it on the transaxle clutch. With the clone's exhaust system I do it from under the cart up on jack stands.

Yes can you get the belt started on the trans pulley enough to rotate it on? I need to pull mine about a third of a rotation.
