Low compression in one cylinder options
I have a cart and it runs but evidently not well no power one cylinder has 65 and other is 150
So would i be best off to just put rings in it or should I go the whole route and try to tackle a rebuid myself ? Maybe send it off to one of the rebuild places? I have another cart I want to put a vegas carts in but wife and grand daughter will be driving this one so I want it easy to operate. Thoughts |

Re: Low compression in one cylinder options
Adjust the valves and recheck compression.

Re: Low compression in one cylinder options
I was hoping for you a valve was tight, not closing... rather than leaking
I suspect valves because ring wear would be more even. |

Re: Low compression in one cylinder options
Squirt some oil in the low cyl and try again. If compression goes up a lot, you have bad rings. If it says same, it's almost certainly valves.

Re: Low compression in one cylinder options
I put some sea foam in it before this post ran it up and down a few times and checked it still around 60. I also re adjusted the valves. I think it maybe a babe but with blue smoke and all I am worried about the rings also.
I have an extra complete engine sitting here so I am going to tear the extra one down for practice |

Re: Low compression in one cylinder options
If the extra can be rebuilt I will rebuild it and stick it in the cart when I pull out the old one

Re: Low compression in one cylinder options
Mind change a complete rebuild kit 700 to 800
I can do and engine exchange for same money and not burn up my off time |
