Default Transmission trouble?

Dear all,

Lately, I started to have a strange noise in the back of my golf cart. It is a G-15-A having the exact same transmission than the Utility G-11-A, almost the same than the G9-A, just one shaft is a bit reinforced...

I am not really sure it comes from the transmission but:
  1. No noise at all when at neutral;
  2. No noise at all when back wheels are jacked up;
  3. Noise appears when running and especially if we are several on the cart.

This noise is easily reproducible especially when I slow-down using the "engine braking". Of course, it appears at high speed as well but at any time, can disappear... It sounds like a metal rubbing noise... Not easy to describe or for you, guys, to imagine...

With my experience, I was thinking about scrappy bearings except when I checked the catalog part, there are no bearings at the back trans-axle, only inside the transmission box itself.

On this site, I have never seen any message concerning re-doing a transmission, but is it common to have to change bearings in the transmission? Anyone had experience?

I suspect I would have to change all 6 bearings, 4 oil seals and the housing gasket as well, but would like to be sure before doing anything...

Any remark or thinking?

Thanks.

PS: I would add I checked the primary & secondary sheaves, the brakes, wheels, etc... everything moving and found nothing wrong...

The input shaft bearing is probably the one that goes bad most frequently, at least on the Dana G16/22 style trans...

The problem is, those axles never break, nobody ever has to go inside. I been inside that axle only once in the 10 years I have worked at the dealer.
