G16 Won’t Go
Hello all, I have a 1998 Yamaha G16 that was running fine, but all of a sudden stopped doing anything. This issue happened several weeks ago, so I took off the starter/generator and had it rebuilt. When I put it back on, the issue wasn’t fixed. Then, I replaced the solenoid, but that still did not fix the problem. I had unhooked the battery at that time, so I hooked it back up with plans to take it to the shop. Once I did that, the cart fired right up and ran fine for about 3 weeks. Last night, the same issue came back and the cart left me stranded again.
A few things here: The battery is good and obviously my SG and solenoid are both good. The headlights work, even though the cart won’t do anything else. I have a backup alarm on the cart. The alarm turns on, but when you press the gas, the alarm turns off. This doesn’t normally happen when the cart is running. I saw a thread about repairing the stop switch. I plan to do that this week and see what happens. Do these problems sound familiar to anyone else?? Thanks in advance!! |

Bad cable end at the battery, the lead part that wraps around the battery post. Seen this one before.

Re: G16 Won’t Go
Turned out to be a loose cable end. I snugged the bolts down good and the cart has run like a champ ever since. A rebuilt SG and a new solenoid, and all I needed was a few turns from a 7/16 wrench. I feel like a big dummy, but at least it wasn't anything serious. Thanks!!
