Re: Yamaha G1 Magneto Ignition Question
honestly I think if the group here had a wiring diagram for the 250 bravo we could provide a better answer. The bravo 250 coil will bolt up as a member here swapped in a 250 bravo engine and added all g1 electrical stuff to it.
Im just not sure what the extra coil is on the bravo stator. If it would work it could help a lot of G1 owners. In my extra time the next few days I will try to find a bravo service manual. |

Re: Yamaha G1 Magneto Ignition Question
There are threads I think in the sled swap section. They often use the G1 pickup because then you retain reverse, so you convert the bravo engine to the G1 ignition. There are two sleds the bravo and the et250 (enticer) they are a little different iirc the bravo is newer.
Sleds have a coil to run the headlight even if they don't have electric start and battery. |

Re: Yamaha G1 Magneto Ignition Question
Sho after looking at the wire diagram you are correct but I remembered this thread.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...ulse-coil.html I need to study the diagram some more but if you follow the above thread Im thinking it (Bravo stator) should work the same way. I also like the idea of a lighting coil to as this would help with some of the load on a G1 with lighting as it doesn't have a strong charging circuit. What do you think? |

Re: Yamaha G1 Magneto Ignition Question
Remember the sleds charge with alternators and run ac lighting. You need a rectifier to use in a cart.

Re: Yamaha G1 Magneto Ignition Question
Unless the bravo is different all the snowmobile engines I looked at when doing my harley /snowmobile had the 2 sided system. A dc coil for the ignition and a separate ac coil for the other electrical systems on the sled. That pic from the bravo sure looks like the other 2 coil systems used on sleds. P.S. If you look at the lighting systems specs at the end it lists an AC regulator.

Re: Yamaha G1 Magneto Ignition Question
yes sir you are correct page 32 of the electrical section. In the excitement I missed it.
it does look to use the same ignition coil. I wonder if modifying the pulser coil for reverse if the rest of the plate assembly would work, omitting the lighting coil. |

Re: Yamaha G1 Magneto Ignition Question
You could still use it for charging as I did using something like the Kohler regulator/ rectifier recommended by Shepard. Works like a charm.
