Default Rev Limiter or Gov to keep from over rev'ing

I disconnected the rev limiter to troubleshoot engine issues. Now cart is running, I am in the position of moving forward. What would be better overall? Should I leave the rev limiter off and rely on gov. Or reconnect the rev limiter and zip tie the gov? I should mention my kids will be driving it with adult supervision, but don't want to rely on wife and kids watching a tach.

If the rev limiter is not failed, then re-connect it. I would also set the governor so it does not over-rev, especially if you have kids driving it it doesn't need to go 20+mph with them on it.
The fleet of carts I maintained I would set them all to run about 12mph max because hired help doesn't pay attention or care how fast they go and I didn't need multiple blown up engines to deal with every year.

Agree completely!

On mine, I like to set the governor so that on a long flat paved straight, it will occasionally hit the rev limiter. Stock cart stock tires thats between 18-20mph. On grass it never becomes a factor, and I dont usually go that fast anyway but prefer to control the speed with the pedal like a car rather than just floor it and let it do it itself.
