Default st 4x4 rear wheels will not lock

2005 st 4x4 when i push the rear dif lock button the light comes on but only the passanger side rear wheel will spin on a hill? suggestions for a easy fix, loose wire ect?

the switch is a magnetic setup. look behind the dash and check to see if it is still setup properly

i would assume the swithch works as the indicator light shows it diff should be locked. the odd thing is the same issue happens with the 4wd switch. the light shows but the wheels are not engaged.

You should here an audible click whenever the differential locks are engaged. In an emergency, baling wire can be used to hold the lever down until you get unstuck. The 4X4 transfer case is not electrically engaged. The light only indicates that the gears to the front axle have meshed.

As gemmechanic stated you should hear an audible click. If you do hear the sound you may check the adjustment at the solenoid to make sure it is locking all the way in. If not check for juice at the solenoid with a tester with the switch engaged. If you have juice at the wire probably the solenoid is bad.
