Re: Ancient EZGO Textron: sticky clutch and needs more power
[QUOTE=BrewCityMusic; these carts weren't designed for a ton of lateral stability and I can tell you from experience that 2 wheel cornering is QUITE common (not to mention quite unnerving) once you get these carts up over that factory 12mph, especially on larger skins. Start trying to compensate for a 400+lb lateral pull and chances are good the cart will end up riding YOU[/QUOTE]
So tell me, can you ride it on two wheels? |

Re: Ancient EZGO Textron: sticky clutch and needs more power
I ended up swapping the motor with a 500cc Arctic Cat engine out of a 79' Pantera I found on craigslist for $80.
After some initial frustrations (testy carb), it runs like hell. The last test run saw around 40mph before the belt exploded. The clutch is about 1/4" offset from the pully, so it's just eating belts until we shift the motor back a little. To that effect, any idea where I can order belts by length? Our local snowmobile dealership doesn't have a lot in stock. |

I hear that you can go to NAPA and get Gates belts in different lengths.

Sory to bring back an old thread, but have you messed with the driven clutch at all? (One on the axle) I'm trying to find out what the thread direction is on the helix so I can pull mine apart. Thanks, -Pete

Re: Ancient EZGO Textron: sticky clutch and needs more power
I have a newer EZ go and have put the bigger tires on it and now find it has no power to get up my driveway. I assume that I either need to get a shorter drive belt or put the new spring assembly in the drive clutch? It was working prior to sitting for a couple of months. Now it has plenty of top end but no power on hills unless revved all the way up?
