I'm going to have to do this....and a Volt gauge. I have an idea for a mount...

The G16 gas tank does have a flat, circular area about 2.5" across....but not with the dimples already there for screws, etc...

I've looked into this a lot...and it seems that for us US folks...the Sunpro CP7591 is the same sending unit.

rlester....I see you said you needed a 1.5" hole...can you tell me the size of the actual top piece of the sending unit where it goes on top of the tank?

Without a doubt, that is the EXACT same sending unit as mine.

I measured the top part and it comes out to 2 3/4 inches. You can see in the picture what I measured, is that what you needed?

Once you are finished your install, post your pics and a link to the gauge that you bought.

Maybe at that point, this could be a sticky?

Another note for the sending unit installation. It is hard to tell in the pictures, but the five holes for the screws are not all equally spaced. There are two screws that have a longer span between them, so the sending unit and gasket only go on the tank in one position. If the float is swinging in the wrong direction, you can simply twist it into the proper position. Not sure if this makes sense.

Thank you! That is just what I needed.

Since I have the Equus tach, I was going to use the Equus 7363 fuel gauge and 7268 volt gauge. The Sunpro sending unit has the correct readings for that particular Equus gauge.

The round spot on my tank is slightly smaller than the 2.75"...but after a good look...I think it'll work fine.

Thanks also for the heads up in the screw spacing.

One final question....did the screws go into the plastic gas tank and hold..or did you need to back them up with some sort of nut?

Yes...I will add to this thread once it's all done.

$20 for the fuel sender:

$20 for the fuel gauge:

Seems like a pretty good cheap mod.

I'll check out the store. I did a search on the site but nothing came up.

The screws seem to be holding just fine. I will know better this weekend when I fill the tank up with gas and see if it leaks. I believe I drilled the holes with a 9/64" bit, but don't quote me on that one yet.

Advance auto parts has some great prices on that stuff. Wish I could get a mount like that, PA doesn't have any. Might just make one and drill my own 2 inch hole.

Thanks again rlester.

My local Advance had the volt gauge, but not the fuel gauge. When I asked about ordering the sending unit and fuel gauge...the guy just kept repeating that "they don't stock it". (When I knew I could order on-line and have it delivered to the store)

As mentioned above...I'm going to use the Sunpro sending unit. I'm also going to use the bracket as shown above...except for two gauges. Since I have the Equus tach, I'm going to use these so they all match:

EQUUS 7363 : Amazon.com : Automotive EQUUS 7363 : Amazon.com : Automotive

Equus 7268 Voltmeter : Amazon.com : Automotive Equus 7268 Voltmeter : Amazon.com : Automotive

Not sure where it'll all come from yet...but there is an eBay vendor that stocks all 4 pieces.
