Need info on workhorse!
Hey guys, I got an axle out of a workhorse for my little buggy build, was wondering if someone could please snap a few clear pictures of the linkage on their axle and post them for me. Thanks a bunch.

Maybe they don't - they could be curious or confused... Are you asking for pics of the shift cables? Workhorse cables connect same as regular cart cables.

Re: Need info on workhorse!
Yes the shift cables, well unfortunately I have an old marathon and am grafting the axle of a workhorse into it, so I have no idea what a 'regular cart' s cables look like....

Re: Need info on workhorse!
mine is an early workhorse (94 GXT-804) and had two cables. due to my lift i removed the cables and added a push/pull cable instead, and ran it above the axle.
you can PM me and i may be able to walk you through it or something. my cables, etc went to nocerus for his project. I do have an extra push/pull cable and lever if you decide you want to go that way. you would need a cam, and some brackets to hold the cable. mine has 8" of lift and the cable is long enough. Scottyb is right, the same years of carts have the same direction cable setup also if its a 4-stroke from my experience. Last edited by Slamminsam; 11-14-2013 at 10:19 PM.. Reason: . |

Re: Need info on workhorse!
I have no idea guys, here's some pics of it. It seems that there should be 2 cables. One is definetely the f/r shifter. There's a pin that has to be lifted to shift out of neutral and I can't imagine how that's done. There's another piece that looks like it shifts something (locker?) but I can't get it to turn on the bench. It's definetely locked, both hubs spin the same direction when you spin the input shaft.
Lemme know if you have anymore info, slamminsam ill pm you in the AM when I get on my computer, I might wanna buy your setup. |

Re: Need info on workhorse!
that level bracket in the first pic is for the direction. the cables were both pull cables, and ran under the cart. with my lift, it wouldnt work, and so i opted for something different.
that "other" bracket with the 2 set screws and spring in it is kind of a 4-letter word for some around here. that is the governor. I pulled all of mine off as well as many others here. I cant answer to your neutral safety pin dealio...mine doesnt have it. you can email me at work tomorrow. sam.ellsworth@yahoo.com for a quicker response. |
