Ezgo 4 stroke smoking ?
I have the 295cc robins block when I bought it it smelt a little bad but didn't some to much . Now it smokes at idle constantly out of the exhaust and when I took it to the road I notice when I would hold the gas down it would excelerate fine but it looked like a 2 stroke cloud behind me . What's more common the valves or rings and piston ? Also what's the proper compression on this block ?

Re: Ezgo 4 stroke smoking ?
If it's smoking that bad it probably needs rebuilding (rings, seals etc...) ideal compression is 150-165 #'s and the lowest to get by with is around 125 #'s.I had an Ezgo (295 Robbins) awhile back that would only "show" smoke if you idled along @ a slow speed for awhile then opened it up so I replaced the intake valve seals and it stopped the smoking .

The color of the smoke will tell you the problem. You get blue smoke if it's oil. Brown or black is too much fuel. White will indicate steam ... I think you're air cooled so that's not a possibility.

Re: Ezgo 4 stroke smoking ?
Thanks for all the input and info it's burning blue so I am burning oil from somewhere I found a complete rebuild kit with new valves pistons rods bearing gaskets seals basically every thing I will need $300. Should I go that route or just fix what needs to be fixed ?
