Default ezgo belt

I'm rebuiling a 2000 ezgo 290 robins is what it says is this the same as the 295 and should I replace the timing belt looks to be in good shape no cracks ect. Also heard that running a Yamaha belt will work as the 1 inch shorter

The EH29 is the 295cc robins engine and yes replace the rubber cam drive belt while you are in there. Pay special attention to the cam timing marks when you re-install the belt as shown in the manual.

For no more than what they cost, I would put the correct belt on it. A belt one inch shorter likely has a different number of teeth per inch and I wouldn't take the chance on it. The timing belt isn't very difficult to change, but pulling the clutch and all the other stuff to get to the timing belt makes it a no brainer for me.
