2008 EXGO TXT DCS or Fleet
I have recently bought a 2008 EXGO TXT golf cart and think it is either a DCS or Fleet (what person selling it said). It has no switch for towing and the forward/reverse is under the seat.
It can get up to 14mph but then seems to slow down to 12-13mph. Had batteries checked (36 volt) and they read 5.5 range when discharged. Is there any way to increase the speed. If I go to 10" tires (now 8") how much will that give me, how about 12" tires (and do I need to lift it then)? Is there any explanation for it slowing up. Next time I take it out (even without charging it) it seems to go at 14mph, but then in about 3 blocks it slows again to 12-13. |

Hi Richard.....you have a fleet (Series) cart. and the speed you are at is its max.....as far as the batteries go, you need to charge them and keep them charged. can you increase the speed? YES there are a few ways. but until you upgrade the power delivery system it will take it toll on it. you mentioned tires....but you really meant WHEELS. but YES you can pit bigger tires in it to get some more speed, but when you put bigger tires, you will sacrifice torque. you stock tires are roughly 18.5" and can go up to 20" tires without needing any lift of any kind.
oh and btw...... CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy. oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |

Re: 2008 EXGO TXT DCS or Fleet
At 5.5V, your batteries were (are) severely discharged.
Attached is a State of Charge vs Voltage chart. Your batteries ought to be charged after each use, or at least put on charge each night when the cart is used during the day. The symptoms you describe could be simply that the batteries are not being properly charged, or the batteries may be nearing the end of their usable lifespan. Since PHX is the FAA Location Identifier for Ski Harbor airport outside Phoenix AZ, I suspect you may be living in an area where golf cart batteries don't last very long due to climatic conditions. To find out how to maintain your batteries, go to the linked website and read everything with the word "Battery" in the title: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Batter..._Tutorial.html |
